More About the Ball Burglars

The following was written to inform you of the blood, sweat, and tears that have gone into creating and organizing the Ball Burglars. (Ok, no blood...and we'd like to keep it that way!)

Who are the Ball Burglars?

Hard-core Buffalo Bills fans!

Everything you see here was done by Bills fans, for Bills fans. There is no big corporation or national nonprofit entity making this happen. It is we Bills fans who are doing this because we think it is important. It will help our Defense, our children, and our community.

The web site, the web site design and artwork, the cost of the website hosting, everything you see here, has all either been worked on for free or paid for by Bills fans who are Burglars.

Maybe you have seen us at the games handing out little helmets or masks or beads and Burglar business cards. All of those things were also paid for by individual Bills Ball Burglars. The legal work to register the Ball Burglars as an official legal nonprofit organization, and the work and filing fees to make us officially tax deductible with the government, were done and paid for by a Burglar lawyer for free.

No Ball Burglar, nobody, makes a single penny from this. We are as efficient as it is possible for a charity to be. The only thing we have to pay for is the handling of your credit card information and the donations. That absolutely had to be done professionally because it must be totally secure. Credit card accessibility cost a few thousand dollars to set up, but even that cost was absorbed by a Ball Burglar benefactor. So the only cost, or overhead, that we have is the very small fee for handling the credit card transactions. If you choose to send a contribution by mail, the law firm that helped us set up as a nonprofit, Murtha Cullina, takes that mail in for us for free and deposits the funds for free.

Your contribution goes right to our kids as efficiently as is possible.

So the ball is rolling here. You should help us please. More and more of our Bills players are getting to know and understand what we are about.

With your help, soon the enemy teams will know what we are about too. We are trying to get into their heads. When they see a fan in a burglar mask at the Ralph, and maybe a lot of fans in burglar masks, they will know that means we want footballs. We are going to put the thought of losing a takeaway into their heads.

We want the Wilson football. It doesn't say "Jerry Jones", or "Kraft" or "Rooney" on there. It says "Wilson", and it is ours.

With your help, the enemy teams will know that Buffalo Bills fans are the only fans in the whole NFL who have put a cash bounty on the football. On OUR football.

What else can you buy at a Bills game for 50 cents or a dollar? I can't think of anything at all. Put 50 cents or a dollar into our bounty for the football! The more of us that do, the bigger the bounty will get.

A takeaway is the most important defensive play that there is. Takeaways win games. Let our defense know we are in their corner and will give them the attention that they deserve. Our defense will feel and feed off of that energy.

When they get that ball for us, show your appreciation by chipping in to the bounty.

Both Hunter's Hope and Carly's Club are based in Western New York. They create jobs and fund research done in Western New York.

Some the bounty money goes to Hunter's Hope for research into Krabbe disease, a killer of children. They are doing research right now at UB to stop it.

Some the bounty money goes to Carly's Club at Roswell Park. Carly's Club funds research into childhood cancers, helps families, and helps put on fun activities. 80% of children who get cancer survive. The Ball Burglars are aiming for 100%!

What better use is there for what amounts to the spare change in your pocket on a Sunday?

Fan by fan, we can make it happen. We can do what no other team's fans have ever done. Please help us make it happen. Cheer our defense. Build our community. Help our children. Be a Ball Burglar!
